Government Attacks on Bible Study




Chuck and Stephanie Fromm already have been fined $300 for holding Bible studies for their friends at their home, and they face the potential for additional fines of $500 for each study held, according to a legal team taking their case to court.

"Imposing a heavy-handed permit requirement on a home Bible study is outrageous," said Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, which is working on the case on behalf of the Fromms.

In this case, the city is demanding that the home Bible study is banned because it is a "church," unless it purchases a 'Conditional Use Permit" from the city. They were told by the city that regular gatherings of three or more people require a conditional use permit, which as you can see can be costly and difficult to obtain.

Pacific Justice said it has represented larger churches that have been required to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars as part of the permit process on such items as engineering and traffic studies, architectural designs. The process includes public hearings and ultimately can result in a rejection by the city.

I know that it sounds ridiculous that here in America a city could ban and impose fines for having a bible study in your home. But a hundred years ago the idea of children not being allowed by the government to say a prayer in school was ridiculous too.

So if you live in San Juan Capistrano come next Christmas Dinner, you either limit it to 2 people or you better get a permit for it if it's a reoccurring event. Because as far as I know Christmas was never intended to be a one time event.

  1. Oh really.. so you deeply believe that taking just that one verse out of context and trying to beat me down with it will work? I already explained to you the we are a REPUBLIC and as such "We The People" are the ones in control of our country. We have a right and a obligation as rulers to stand up when we see one of our employees acting wrong and abusing the power we entrusted to them.

    These are the very first words the Constitution that is the foundation for ALL laws in this nation. It was not We The Bureaucrats or We The Elected, it was We The People who established this nation and as such we are the rulers of this nation.
