Are You Ready To Be Reprogrammed?

Here is a little something for the Government you may find interesting. It was from the Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack “You know, as we deal with this issue of reducing sodium and sugar, it sounds simple to do, but you all know better than I do, it’s not as simple as it sounds,” Vilsack said. “It’s going to take time for people’s taste to adjust and they will adjust over time, but it will take some time.”

So in time they will "Adjust" your taste so you eat the approved foods they want you to have. So much for you having choices.

  1. Not really an accurate portrayal of the situation. I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes II. Do you really want to have this conversation?

  2. Feel free to salt and sugar the living shit out of your own food though nobody is taking that away from you.

  3. I am truly sorry for your medical issues. I have many myself and I am sure everyone else. But government controls designed to manipulate and dictate like these are wrong. Forcing changes in the way legal food ingredients are blended should be left to the market place.

You will never be able to force all people to eat one type of diet.

Just as I can salt or sugar the hell out of my food you can choose not to purchase food that will cause whatever medical issue you have to become worse. I make those choices every day as do millions of others.

No matter how well intentioned this dietary idea may be, if it is based on imposing onto others and removing their free right to choose it is wrong.

  4. You're right the food companies will say screw the stockholders and stop worrying about making record profits on a population that doesn't have the luxury of being able to afford a healthy diet in this terrible economy. And hell all the junk food and candy companies will stop marketing their products to children. If they don't we will just all grow enough food in our apartments and tell them to go screw themselves.

To be serious though its about time the government stopped companies from selling us products that hurt us and are responsible for rising health care costs. I guarantee you my doctor bills have gone up 10x since I found out. I now get all my money and then some out of my insurance.

People aren't given good information on diets in school and the food companies aren't exactly interested in educating their customers.

For example when I grew up I was told to eat 6-11 servings of bread. Unfortunately most of the bread products you could get back then at the grocery store is made from processed wheat and flower and contained lots of high fructose corn syrup. That diet is directly responsible for my diabetes 2. Now you can get products made from whole grains. That wasn't an option I could ever remember when I was a kid.

We know things about food that we didn't know back then. Times change David and so does our knowledge about our world. It's our government purpose to protect it's citizens from greedy corporations and ignorance.

  7. Good healthy food choices have been around since I was a kid. The burden has and will always be on each of us as parents to chose for ourselves and our children what we eat just as it is for what we watch on T.V. so please stop with the finger pointing and blame game.

Where in the Constitution did you find "It's our government purpose to protect it's citizens from greedy corporations and ignorance."? Perhaps a nanny state is your idea of the perfect government but it will never be mine.
