“Chris is in the Army’s 10th Mountain Division and was 12 months into his third deployment. Our daughter, Kaylinn, is three, and of her three years, her dad has been deployed for a total of 24 months.
One thing that has kept us sane during the long separation is our tradition of attending all the Family Nights at our Mt. Dora Chick-fil-A in Mt. Dora, Fla. I’ve become good friends with several of the people who work there. Everybody has gotten to know me because I eat there almost every day — especially for breakfast. When Chris comes home on leave, our first meal is almost always at the Chick-fil-A — in fact, it was our first meal right after we got married!
I ordered our food, sat down — joining my parents and Kaylinn who met us there — and when I turned around, there was Chris, carrying our trays to our table. I can’t tell you how amazing it was to see him again.”
